if you could play any instrument, what would it be?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 25, 2009:
My body.
I've always wanted to learn to sing; I have such admiration for those who are able to use their ribs and lungs and breath and tongue and lips and ears as some beautiful, powerful, delicate, perfect, and utterly unique instrument. My speaking voice is unobjectionable, but my poor sense of rhythm and harmony and still-present shyness
keep foiling me. One summer I will sign up for lessons. For now I will listen.

Help

thats a good idea .. i love it when the whole body does sing
“One summer I will sign up for lessons.” Me too!! lovely post!
synonym for light: Oh, Dawn. Wouldn't that be fun? I just don't know what sort I'd choose. Choral? Improvised jazz? Opera? Gospel? There are so many rich options.
Hm. Perhaps each of our bodies is made to sing a particular kind of music best. I'll have to explore.
me – I'm a counry western ballard singer…. heehee. or folk or gospel, but I'm not eliminating any options. exploration. what a great word and concept.
20+ years ago I bought a lap dulcimer because it was beautiful and I guess I must have heard someone play one. It's been too long to remember.
Last year I found a woman in my church who plays and she offered to teach me. I love the casual sounds. I sing with it too.
Taped my playing singing…I've got some work to do!
But I'm happy with Dulsie and with me.
Someday, I'd love to learn the Celtic Harp and also I'd like to take a class in Sedona AZ and learn Reiki Drumming….now that should be an experience… Intentionally having rhythym is nearly impossible.
yeah, that's what I'd like to play
Metropolitan Opera house, Frank Sinatra, and Carneige Hall symphonies. Listening to beautiful music and vocals is invaluable. Get it girl!
Or starting to hummm, Siona… let the melody of your own being float with the the Universe.. just let come out what wants to come out.. softly.. gently.. and then.. the way it goes..
.. and here.. - without noticing - you've got your first singing lesson!!
So, shall this summer be THE ONE?!!!!
LOVE,
Silke
So, shall this summer be THE ONE?!!!!
Apparently, dear Silke, and thank you so much for the encouragement. Tomorrow morning's shower my training will commence in earnest. :)
And elastic: Will do. Ol' Blue Eyes has a way of making my whole soul sing.
Sing at the top of your voice with as much exuberance as you possess! God doesn't care if you are rhythmically challenged, or even tone deaf. :) Don't wait. Start now!
