thinking styles.

Ooh. Gael found a wonderful little tool for self-reflection.
My result follows. And goodness... I had no idea this was even a category of thought. I suppose it makes sense. After all, someone has to dream up all those QaRs. ;)
Existential thinkers:
- Like to spend time thinking about philosophical issues such as "What is the meaning of life?"
- Try to see beyond the 'here and now', and understand deeper meanings
- Consider moral and ethical implications of problems as well as practical solutions
Like existential thinkers, Leonardo questioned man's role in the universe. Many of his paintings explored the relationship between man and God.
Other Existential Thinkers include
The Buddha, Gandhi, Plato, Socrates, Martin Luther King
Careers which suit Existential Thinkers include
Philosopher, Religious leader, Head of state, Artist, Writer
I loved the final question of the introduction, too. "Do you think your education allowed you to develop your true potential?" I loved it so much I stopped on that first page to sit and think about what that implied, both for each of us and whatever education system we were tossed into. And I'm now tempted to ask it of the whole community... both that, and what sort of education would allow for an easier unfoldment.
Existential thinker, though. I suppose it fits. I'm curious, though, as to how constant these things are. If I take the survey again in a year, will it still be the same?

Help

Interesting. Mine came out Linguistic and Naturalist here is a quote from the first : “Are sensitive to the sounds and rhythms of words as well as their meanings.” I have talked to the local public radio hosts about little quirks in their word stresses. A book becomes a page turner for me not from the plot, but from the way the words are strung together. Did you have a second thinker style? Now I want to find out what kind Celka and Timon are (and everyone else here too).
Mama: Yes, when I took it a second time I got Intrapersonal and Naturalist. And were I to pick another for myself it would definitely be Linguistic. I think that (hooray for unschooling!) my education did let me develop a sort of omni-directional potential, so maybe I have a whole bevy of thinking styles to choose from.
(Mechanistic is definitely not one, though. I really did think I was going to blow up the house yesterday…)
And I love people with quirky word stresses, almost as much as I love that you pay attention to these. There's such melody to voices, and I love when that singingness is allowed rather than turned into news-speak.
LOL Siona mechanistic is definitely not me either. I would never dream of judging anyone
on this - just a bit of fun and it also helps my appreciation of others, it wouldn't be much fun if we were all the same would it? Second time I came up with existential again and naturalistic as a second one,
The education question made me think too, I actually missed 4yrs schooling due to childhood illness and had huge gaps in my education I didn't enjoy school much for that reason but later on in professional education I loved self directed learning and still educate myself now at 67, smiles.
Gael: You might have had 'gaps' in your institutional education, but I think this just opened space for you in your personal education. And I'm so glad to hear you're still learning.
(And the mechanistic thing… the pilot light in my hot water heater went out this weekend and turning it back on was harrowing. I was sure I was going to burn the place to a cinder and myself to a crisps… but maybe that's just because of my existentialist tendencies. ;)
Harrowing maybe but you did it when you could have called someone in….What kind of thinking style is that?:-)
Mama: More like what kind of unthinking style…
I took the survey. It turns our my personality or ego manifests in this world as a musical thinker, which is: ta-da: Musical thinkers:
Tend to think in sounds, and may also think in rhythms and melodies
Are sensitive to the sounds and rhythms of words as well as their meanings.
Feel a strong connection between music and emotions
I'd say it's amazingly accurate Notice how careful I am with words even when writing this comment. I don't simply say: “I am a musica thinker.” Rather, I say: “Part of my ego or personality manifests in this world as a musical thinker.”
This is because I am utterly aware that I myself am just pure Love, Joy, Light, Freedom, Peace and Fullness.
:)
Much Love to you, Siona!
