I spent yesterday at a training for hospice, which was wonderful but wearying. I'm compensating today; when I got up, I slathered my scalp and hair in coconut butter, and I am now sitting in a bathrobe drawing a bath in which to sit and eventually rinse it out on an otherwise very cold and grey Colorado day. The whole house smells delicious and my thirsty hair (and self, perhaps) has been needing a treatment like this for far, far too long.
And I think this afternoon I will vote.

Help

Hospice, A wonderful service for you to do, Siona.
I was lucky to be one of the founding members of the first hospice in Mt. Shasta.
Volunteering is always a wonderful thing to do, but to do it with the dying is a blessing to them, but mostly to ourself. You will learn alot.
People die as they live. Some with clenched fist, some with smiles and peace.
Love XOXO
Hi Siona, I see the importance you put on honoring the end of the life cycle; this has come up before in various places around. I appreciate it about you !! Good reminder to us all.
And I am glad you are being good to your hair, body, and self !! One cannot pour from an empty cup…..
Sounds like absentee ballot voting. How satisfying to have that done !!
In the Love We Are,
OM
Ditto the aboves!
I'm voting absentee due to military training this year and despite my misgivings on the seemingly quite broken mechanism of actually correctly tallying the votes.
I realized with a surprised smile that for the first time I could easily look up the candidates in all the little elections and be further informed before sending this ballot back. I have often left the booth feeling elated to have voted and a bit chagrined I didn't know more about the various county and judicial seats.
Coconut takes the chill outta most everything.
Blessings, David
When I was a community nurse, I spent much time with terminal care, both in and out of a hospice, my daughter in law died in one a couple of years ago. They do sterling work, in a holistic fashion which embraces both conventional and alternative medecine. It was a priviledge to contribute and one learns so much.
If your hair is dry remember diet as well as topical things, omega 3 and 6 etc. I love the natural things like coconut butter too, glad you are caring for you too.
sounds wonderfully warm!
Good Morning All,
Yes , it is my total way for self recovery , and healing , and being well.
Looking after yourself , and nurturing you as a whole being , and women or man is so important . This is what my journeys are about, as we all must take our own Authentic Souls Journey, and create an essence of beauty , nature , and surround our selves with love , of family , and friends.
Loving you all, and glad to be back.
Love, and respect,
Lori
Siona,
Hospice was a saving Grace as my Mother was dying this year.
I appreciate you.
My Mother was a hospice nurse for over 35 years. I learned a tremendous amount of real life through hospice.
Much Love,
LeAnn
I smell like Thai noodles but my hair is happier than it's been in months.
And thank you, all, for weighing in so positively around hospice! I was involved in grief work and bereavement counseling when I lived in California and have really, really missed the community since moving out here; being involved again feels a bit like coming home. It's wonderful to hear such affirmations, though–I think there's still quite a bit of fearfulness or confusion around what hospice involves, and merely sharing a few words about how positive it can be makes, I think, such a difference to this. So Ladybear and abundantlife and Zephyr… thank you. :)
OM & HeyOK: In Colorado you can elect to vote by mail, which I love–it means you can sit and spend an entire weekend going through the ballot and making your decisions even on the smallest options. It's the first time I tried it and though I share David's prickling concern about counts, I'd still recommend the process. It was nice to have the space to really honor what's involved. :)
Hummingbird and SACRED GAIA: Warm hugs to you both…
I have felt honored to be present with dying.
Hugs to you Siona and I bet your hair is happy. :)
Mine will be happy on Thursday when LeAnn, Stylist who is the expert on my hair, sits me in her chair and has her way with it. hehe I love that she has the same name too. Self care while caring for others is so important.
You are such a lovely Being Siona.
Sorry , I got muddled up with the word, sometimes I see , and do things backwards.
I will say that if I did not do what I did this get away I would have been in the hospital.
My hospice stay this time was in safety , nature , and much tranquility.
This is what I believe many need in all places of terminaly ill , or any for that matter.
I will just say that many Angels where guiding me .
Hello Siona,
I have found in living with death as I do a depth that while appearing tragic, unneeded or wanted shares with us the greatest marks of the human spirit. It is a place where all of what we are comes together to look upon itself, as if in a finite space. Where hope is loss yet racing to the unknown, where we are leaving yet venturing forward, where we grasp the love at hand yet must relinquish it to the bounds of memory.
I travel 45 minutes from where I work as a nurse, a drive from a small city to the country and some days, while i do not but coconut in my hair, I open all the windows and drive as fast as I am able and let the smells and sounds of life blow through my hair.
=}
ahhh I read this with the aroma of coconut permeating my space and just loving the humanitarian care giving back to where it is so needed too.
There is a great blog on Designer's Blockcalled “How to give your hair body”
I know your hair doesn't look like that but I thought of you, looked at that picture and just smiled. :-) Thanks for all you do guiding ways.
Oh Siona….
((((((((((siona))))))))))!!
Reminds me of the tel maalish [oil massage] I get on my head when I visit India! It's WONDERFUL! If you go to Delhi, Siona, ask me where to go. Till then, this will have to do http://www.metacafe.com/watch/yt-fqrNo5_edd0/indian_head_massage/
hello siona, you made a request for a one card reading on my blog this weekend. The card the deck chose for you was the “Princess of Swords” which in the Light and Shadow deck means that right now you are a whilring dervish of activity – lots of irons in the fire, lots of juggling to do, lots of “triage”, so to speak. However, you are also blessed with an innate/intuitive wisdom which means that, though you are overloaded right now, your decisions will be thoughtful and your responses measured, that the breakneck roller coaster pace of things will not blunt your common sense/down to earth right thoughts and right action.
I hope this was helpful. I did yours as a cold reading but in response to your question, yes, you can ask for a specific question as well. I plan to open my blog for one card readings the last weekend of every month so come back the end of Nov. and tell your friends : - )

This thread does such wonders to my heart. I'm always surprised when people have heard of hospice, and so hearing postive stories about others' experiences is a little stunning… and makes me so happy.
Thank you all, again and again. (And chris! Your reading could NOT have been more spot-on. Wow.)
